Casinos Across the US Still Trying to Hire More Workers
Gaming venues across the United States are still trying to hide more workers as more services become available.
In March 2020, the United States changed dramatically. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic set many steps in motion, including the shutdown of entertainment and hospitality venues like casinos. Across the country, casinos closed for weeks and even months as the deadly virus grew out of control. Once venues were allowed to reopen, they did so at a much lower capacity then before. Most were operating at 15 to 30 percent. Over time, this changed as well and casinos were allowed to offer 100% capacity, bringing back services such as dining and drinks.
However, at the same time, many employees had been laid off and found work elsewhere. This left casinos with a smaller workforce and not enough people to fill in the positions needed to offer standard services. Currently, there are several big-name operators that are looking for employees, some even offering bonuses or special incentives to come onboard.
Tuscany Suites and Casino in Las Vegas Hiring
This week, the Tuscany Suites and Casino in Las Vegas will host a job fair in the hopes of finding employees to cover available positions. The casino is located off the Strip on Flamingo Road and is in desperate need of employees.
Interviews will take place during the job fair with same day hiring an option. Those interested in employment can fill out an online application as well. Some available jobs are part time while others are full time. The full-time positions include paid vacation time and medical insurance.
Along with traditional employment positions, the casino is also on the hunt for employees who will be on call. This would include cocktail servers that work in the pool area.
The need for employees in Las Vegas has been ongoing. For a few months now, job fairs have taken place throughout the city as more help is needed. Las Vegas has seen an increase in visitors which has created a demand for more hospitality employees.
Growing Job Market
It is estimated that the demand for jobs in the gaming industry is only going to continue. Right now, many positions are being filled due to employees moving on to other work after being laid off due to the pandemic. In other cases, more travel has resulted in the need for additional help.
The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics has stated that jobs in the gaming industry are expected to grow by 24% in 2030, from 2020 totals. The rate is projected to be increasing at the quickest rate when it comes to all occupations.
The bureau expects that over 20,000 gaming jobs will be available each year over the next decade. The job openings should come from those who leave due to retirement or to replace employees that transfer to a new job title.
It is also important to consider that more gaming options are being added in the United States on a regular basis. Individual states are embracing online gaming, casinos, lottery games, sports betting, and video lottery terminals, which creates the need for new jobs in some form or fashion. As the industry continues to grow across the nation, so will the need for new employees.
To stay competitive, operators are offering higher wagers as well as sign-on bonuses in the hopes of attracting employees. Because many casinos need help, the employee pool is shrinking, making it more difficult to find quality workers.
